यह interpreter या हार्डवेयर का piece होता है जो कि display processor code को pictures में बदल देता है.
दूसरे शब्दों में कहें तो, “display processor का प्रयोग CPU से digital information को analog में convert करने के लिए किया जाता है.”
यह digital-analog conversion जो है वह display devices के प्रकार पर निर्भर करता है तथा graphics functions पर निर्भर करता है.
display processors का जो मुख्य कार्य होता है उसे scan conversion कहते है. इस process में contiguous graphics objects को ellipse, rectangles तथा polygons के collection के रूप में अलग (separate) करना होता है.
display processor को कभी कभी display processing unit (DPU) कहते है.
display processor के चार मुख्य parts होते है जो कि निम्नलिखित है:-
- display file memory
- display controller
- display generator
- display console
Display file memory (डिस्प्ले फाइल मैमोरी)
इसका प्रयोग picture को जनरेट करने के लिए किया जाता है. और इसका प्रयोग graphic entities को indentify करने के लिए भी किया जाता है.
display controller (डिस्प्ले कंट्रोलर)
यह display device के operation को control करता है. इसे video controller भी कहते है. इसके कार्य निम्न है.
1:- यह interrupt को handle करता है.
2:- यह timing को maintain करता है.
3:- इसका प्रयोग instruction को interpreted करने के लिए भी किया जाता है.
display generator (डिस्प्ले जनरेटर)
1:- इसका प्रयोग character को generate करने के लिए किया जाता है.
2:- इसका प्रयोग curves को generate करने के लिए किया जाता है.
display console
यह CRT, light pen, तथा keyboard एवं deflection system को contain किये रहता है.
